Dear Poet / Artist / Thinker,

Thank you for applying to Home School Hudson for our July 28th- August 2nd, 2019 conference.

This letter is to notify you have been accepted to  the program and that your place will be guaranteed upon receipt of your tuition. Congratulations!

Please read these  instructions closely below and let us know if you have any questions.

Home School Hudson 2019 Program:

We are incredibly excited to have you participate this summer with our stellar faculty of poets and artists. This year’s lineup includes core faculty CA Conrad, Fred Moten, Jackie Wang, Dawn Lundy Martin, Anne Boyer, Ariana Reines, and James Allister Sprang.

The week begins on Sunday July 28th (early afternoon) and ends on Friday, August 2nd in the late afternoon. Please plan to make accommodations  accordingly.

Workshops will happen each day, Monday thru Friday, from  11:30 am to 2:30 pm. Readings will happen each  evening at 7 or 7:30 pm. While other optional activities may be added to the  week, the only required components in addition to the opening and  closing ceremonies will be the daily workshop and nightly readings depending on faculty leaders' desires.

All activities will be held at Time & Space Limited in Hudson, New  York. Addresses and maps of this location, walking distance to all of  downtown Hudson, will be made available to all enrolled students in the coming weeks in the form of a guide.

Confirming Your Acceptance

To confirm your acceptance: please email us at  info@thehomeschool.org or thefugitivepublic@gmail.com as soon as possible then submit a deposit of $250 to begin working towards your  tuition of 1175 USD due no later than May 15.

Please note: Due to high demand for enrollment this year, while we have already reserved a slot for you,  **we cannot guarantee your placement  until we have receipt of your deposit.**

When your payment is received in total and cleared, you will be notified immediately confirming your  attendance.

Tuition & Refund:

Tuition costs $1175.

Students unable to meet the May 15 deadline will forfeit  their spot to those on our waiting list.

Please contact us ahead of  time if you foresee any trouble meeting this deadline, as payment plans can be made under special circumstances and through direct communication.

Also, please note for Home School Alumni, you get an extra $250 discount on your tuition which makes your full total $925. When you confirm acceptance, please state that you are Alumni and which conference you have attended in the past.

All payments must be paid via Pay Pal to thefugitivepublic@gmail.com

In the case of a refund, the first $250 deposit is nonrefundable.

All payments beyond that may be refunded up to July 1st, after that, no refunds.

We cannot offer refunds in the case of sickness or other unexpected events but can offer you a spot in upcoming conferences.

Additional Scholarships & Crowdsource Funding:

Currently, The Home School is hoping to be able to offer half/full scholarships for attendees but we cannot state how many there will be until after our benefit in Brooklyn on May 23rd.

We will be posting information on our Facebook and Instagram about event details.

Please help us raise awareness as we will be able to offer tax deductible donations to fund these scholarships.

We will be posting a scholarship application on June 1 .

Any payment received before will be credited should you receive a scholarship.

Also note: In past years, every single one of our students who has attempted to crowdsource their tuition and/or travel costs has been able  to meet their fundraising goals. We suggest looking at GoFundMe and  Kickstarter for examples.

Also many students get grants through their schools and organizations that they are associated with.

If you require documentation of your acceptance, please let us know at info@thehomeschool.org and we will be happy to provide to help you with these efforts.

Programming

Home School Hudson will be structured as such: (1) workshop groups will  rotate their core faculty teacher each day; (2) student mixers will  offer multiple chances to socialize throughout the week; (3)  opportunities for student readings will occur on multiple occasions.

Accordingly, you will be placed in a workshop group of students that will stay the same for the entire week, but each day you will have the chance to study with a different instructor. By the end of  the week, everyone at Home School Hudson will  have worked closely with at all the faculty instructors.

Housing:

Due to Hudson’s high demand for housing in the summer months, we  strongly suggest that you make a reservation for sleeping accommodations as soon as possible: from Sunday night July 28th through Thursday  night, checking out Friday morning August 2nd or beyond.

We cannot stress enough that rooms book very fast at this time of year.

Please note Hudson has an extensive offering of hotels, bed and breakfasts as well as private or shared rooms to rent through www.AirBNB.com.  We’ve worked hard to contact owners and operators from local  establishments to procure discounts wherever possible. Hudson B&Bs  can be found online at www.stayinhudson.net  as well as through searching surrounding locations if you have access  to transport (Red Hook, Germantown, Albany and Saugerties are approx. 30  minutes away by car).

The following lodgings are within walking distance to The Home School.  While there are many available, we recommend trying these options first:

1. Hotels [medium pricing]
a. St. Charles Hotel (mention The Home School)
b. The Barlow Hotel (mention The Home School)

2. Bed and Breakfasts [medium-to-high pricing]
a. Inn at Ca’Mea
b. Country Squire Bed and Breakfast
c. 26 Warren Street
d. Hudson City Bed & Breakfast (mention The Home School)
e. Front Street Guesthouse

3. AirBNB.com [all levels of pricing]

Finally, for students interested in discounted housing, many students find by sharing rooms either at a hotel, bed and breakfast or lodging  found on AirBnB.com, they will save money over the course of the entire  week. If you are interested in being part of a Google doc to be connected with others interested in sharing, please let us know when you confirm.

We look forward to seeing you in Hudson this summer, and if there any questions you have, be sure to let us know.

Very best wishes,
